Muthu Raga Madeira Hotel - Funchal (Madeira)

It was the third time I stayed at the hotel and I find that the hotel is very accessible and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The Breakfast buffet is very vast and Five (restaurant) has a nice view of the water.

It states a shuttle bus. We hung about for a hotel branded bus. After checking It is the Aerobus service with a charge of 5 euro. No tea coffee facilities. Good breakfast but the Madeira staff at the hotel are very formal and cannot smile readily. We had a fantastic view from the 8th floor overlooking everything. It was so high vertigo happened to me.

Situated on hill and steps and lifts to get everywhere. No good for infimed persons or no go for wheelchair passengers.

Check in was easy, hotel was ideal, locations was absolutely perfect direct to the sea. The breakfast was savoury and plentiful and provided with exotic fruits, sausages or mushrooms, continental option. The daily service was excellent. The venue provided Wi-Fi in the foyer: )

The hotel is situated about 30mins walk from Funchal centre, a pleasant level walk apart from the last 400 mtres, a taxi might cost around 7 euros or you could take a local bus ( numbers 2 and 4) which stops close to the hotel for a very reasonable 1 euro. General access to the hotel was via steps and lift from the lower road or down a fairly steep drive to the from the top road. The reception area is clean and tidy and the desk is always manned ( all speaking English ), access to most of the rooms is via the 2 lifts, which were always clean and reliable. our room was on the 8th floor with balcony and sea view. There was adequate storage space good sized ensuite, hot and cold water always available. Breakfast is served in a seperate building just outside reception and again their are a few steps to enter.Breakfast is served from 07.30am till 10 am buffet style and plenty of variety to suit all.At a lower level again was the pool reasonably sized and very clean along with a small bar which opens throughout the day till 7pm.

I liked allot the relationship between price/quality. It has a fine quality with a not so expensive price. Also the sea view, the pool and the location, the best!

The staff sometimes seems to be a little bit unpreparated, still very friendly

it is in magnificent location to lido, set really close to the hotel. the property is close to cafes and bars. the rooms are well-appointed on lower floors.

The breakfast had a great selection of options, including bread, pastries, fruit and eggs. The twin/double room we stayed in were top-class with stunning views.

Nice staff, clean room, excellent location for Lido, easy and fast transportation to the center of Funchal.

I would recommend free internet access in a four star hotel.

The room was spacious and clean. The breakfasts were excellent, probably the best we've had in recent years from a buffet. The outlook was very atractive.

The bed was slightly too hard and the pillows a bit lumpy. For a four star we would expect coffe/tea making facilties in the room. The entrance to the hotel was not clear if arriving on foot via the main road.

Have stayed before. Good price, excellent location for lido, restaurants, buses into old town and supermarkets. Good breakfast, excellent poolside bar, attentive staff, full sea views and cleanliness throughout.

Vacationers, be cautious

The breakfast was decent, decent enough that I didn't mind waking up early for it.

It wasn't exactly cheap, but it was tolerable.

Only one Lady from the Staff can speak English, others understand English but reply only in Spanish or Portuguese. I asked for a double bed and I received 2 single, and only after three reminders they came to the room and put the 2 beds together( with one linen ) Young people are not warmly welcome, they behave as they are your Mother or Father, blaming you for all your questions or requests!

Breakfast isn't the best and things start to fail in a later hour. Swimming Pool turned to the main road but usable. Location isn't perfect as it is on a touristic area but many pubs and supermarkets around.

The muthu hotel had a lovely pool area with plenty of sun loungers. The staff were great, which really stood out . The location was great. We enjoyed our large room with a sea view, very clean and spacious.
